Everton Heath Primary School Achieves Outstanding 0.03 ACH Airtightness Result with Passive Purple

When Everton Heath Primary School required additional teaching space to support its growing pupil numbers, the project team sought a construction solution capable of delivering both exceptional building performance and efficient installation.

Working alongside White Haus Timber Frame, Intelligent Membranes supplied Passive Purple and Passive Purple Brush as part of the building's airtightness strategy, helping the project achieve an exceptional airtightness result of 0.03 ACH.

The project demonstrates how modern timber-frame construction and robust airtightness detailing can work together to create buildings that are energy-efficient, durable and designed for long-term performance.

Building for the Next Generation

The project involved the construction of a modern timber-frame classroom building designed to provide additional teaching space while maintaining high standards of comfort and energy efficiency.

Timber-frame construction was selected in part due to challenging site access restrictions, allowing sections of the building to be manufactured off-site before being delivered and installed quickly and efficiently.

This approach reduced disruption during construction while supporting the wider performance objectives of the project.

Creating an Airtight Learning Environment

Achieving exceptional airtightness requires more than quality materials. Every board joint, penetration, connection and structural interface must form part of a continuous airtight layer.

Passive Purple and Passive Purple Brush were used throughout the building envelope to seal critical airtightness details, including:

• OSB board joints
• Window and door interfaces
• Service penetrations
• Structural connections
• Complex airtightness details

The combination of spray and brush-applied systems enabled installers to efficiently seal both large areas and intricate details while maintaining continuity across the building envelope.
