Passive Purple: Tested & Certified
Passive Purple is one of the most thoroughly tested liquid airtight coatings on the market. Crucially, it is tested to both North American (ASTM / ICC-ES) and European (EN) standards — and holds Passivhaus certification and BBA approval — making it suitable for specification on projects worldwide. Every claim below is backed by an independent, accredited report; no marketing claims without the data to support them.
North American standards — ASTM & ICC-ES
Passive Purple and Passive Purple Brush hold ICC-ES Evaluation Report ESR-4715, confirming compliance with the 2021, 2018 and 2015 International Building Code (IBC), International Residential Code (IRC) and International Energy Conservation Code (IECC), with a City of Los Angeles supplement.

0.02 L/s·m² at 75 Pa (at 20 mils) | Qualifies as an air barrier material — the airtight proof |
|
Surface burning ASTM E84 |
Flame Spread Index 0; Smoke Developed 55 (Brush 0 / 35) | Class A reaction to surface burning |
|
Solar Reflectance Index ASTM E1980 |
SRI 52 (SR 0.453, TE 0.907) | Reflects ~45% of solar energy; exceeds the LEED steep-slope cool-roof threshold (SRI ≥ 39) |
|
Fungus resistance ASTM G21 |
Tested | Resists mould and fungal growth |
|
Reaction to heat ASTM E1354 |
Tested (cone calorimeter) | Heat-release performance data |

European & UK standards — EN, Passivhaus & BBA
Passive Purple is also tested and certified to European requirements, so it can be specified with confidence across the UK, Europe and beyond:
- Passivhaus certified — verified by the Passivhaus Institute for use in certified low-energy and Passivhaus buildings.
- BBA approved — independent UK Agrément certification, giving building control documented third-party assurance.
- EN test programme — Passive Purple is also tested to EN standards (e.g. reaction to fire to EN 13501-1, air permeability and water-vapour performance), supporting specification to European norms.
Tested both sides of the Atlantic — suitable worldwide
Because Passive Purple is verified to both ASTM (North America) and EN (Europe) standards, alongside Passivhaus and BBA, specifiers can use the same product and the same evidence base wherever they build.
Independently tested. Third-party certified. No marketing claims without the data to back them up.
