Quality assurance for liquid applied airtight membranes

How is a liquid applied membrane QA'd for performance? Every Intelligent Membranes product is applied to a certified specification — minimum number of coats, wet film thickness (WFT) checked with a wet film gauge, coverage rate in kg/m², substrate preparation and curing time — backed by BBA Agrément Certificate 22/6002, Passivhaus Institute certification, KIWA approval and fire classification testing. These free Installation & QA Record sheets turn that specification into a simple site document: one sheet per plot, panel or area, recording batch numbers, substrate checks, wet film thickness readings and sign-off signatures.

They work as inspection and test plan (ITP) records for airtightness and vapour control layer (VCL / AVCL) installation, factory application QA for offsite and MMC panel manufacture, and site repair or snagging sign-off before dry lining and boarding over — giving building control, clerks of works and main contractors the evidence they need to close out airtight membrane installation without delay.

How to use the QA sign-off sheets

Download the sheet for your product, fill it in on a tablet or print it, record at least three wet film gauge readings per area, and have it signed by the operative and supervisor — plus a witness from the client or main contractor where required. Always check the current Technical Data Sheet and Install Guide before application.

Frequently asked questions

How is Passive Purple QA'd for performance?

Passive Purple is applied in a minimum of two coats at 800–1000 microns wet film thickness per coat (0.8–1.0 kg/m² total), verified on site or in the factory with a wet film gauge, per BBA Agrément Certificate 22/6002. The QA Record sheet documents every check — substrate preparation, application temperature, WFT readings and curing — with operative and supervisor sign-off.

What is an airtightness QA sign-off sheet?

It is a quality assurance record completed during installation of an airtight membrane or vapour control layer. It evidences that the membrane was applied to the certified specification, supporting airtightness testing (air permeability / ACH targets), Passivhaus certification and building control approval.

Can I use these sheets for factory-applied panels and offsite manufacture?

Yes — each sheet has a factory application stage as well as site application and site repair/snagging stages, so offsite and MMC manufacturers can QA panels before dispatch and record any patching after installation on site.

Are the membranes certified?

Yes. Certifications across the range include BBA Agrément 22/6002, Passivhaus Institute certification, KIWA approval, ETA, fire classifications up to A2-s1,d0, and radon barrier certification. Each QA sheet lists the certification relevant to its product.
