Intelligent Membranes makes liquid-applied airtight membranes — airtightness, vapour control, waterproofing and fire protection you apply by spray, roller or brush. One seamless coat instead of sheets, laps and hope.

Who we are

Based in Cambridgeshire and led by founder Adam White, we developed Passive Purple — the liquid airtight vapour control membrane — and built a full range around it: Airtight White for walls you can leave on show, fire-rated Passive Purple X, The GOAT liquid roof waterproofing, Waterproof Blue liquid DPM, Poseidon bathroom tanking, FRED fire protection and the accessories that tie the airtight system together — IM Fleece Tape, sealants and primers.

Tested, certified, used worldwide

Our membranes are Passivhaus certified and BBA approved, tested to both ASTM (ICC-ES ESR-4715) and EN standards so they can be specified in the UK, Europe and North America — with an Environmental Product Declaration to EN 15804. Airtightness is measured, not claimed — and ours gets measured on some of the UK’s most demanding projects. A 0.078 ACH air test at McLaughlin & Harvey’s £44m Passivhaus school in Edinburgh — one of the lowest ever recorded in the UK. 0.04 ACH at Oxford University’s Collections Storage Facility.     Through his suite of companies — including Intelligent Membranes and White Haus Bespoke Timber Frame — Adam has been at the forefront of revolutionising the way buildings are designed, sealed, and protected.     Alex White – Managing Director, Airtightness Specialist & UK’s First PHIUS Tradesman

    Alex White, Managing Director of Intelligent Membranes, is one of the UK’s leading airtightness experts and the UK’s first certified PHIUS Tradesman. Having started his career developing environmentally friendly timber framing systems, Alex quickly became recognised for his hands-on expertise and precision in delivering airtightness on-site.

    A true master installer, Alex has built a reputation for tackling the toughest building envelope challenges. From large-scale commercial projects to intricate retrofits, his ability to combine technical know-how with practical application ensures builders hit airtightness targets with confidence.

    Passionate, practical, and always pushing the limits of what’s possible, Alex is at the heart of Intelligent Membranes’ mission to transform how airtightness is delivered on real building sites.
