The Smart Way to Seal Steel
Modern schools are built with Light Gauge Steel (LGS) for speed. Don't let the airtightness hold you back. The Passive Purple system seals steel frames and cement particle boards in a fraction of the time of traditional tape.

Why Schools are Built with Passive Purple
The education sector demands rapid construction schedules. That is why Light Gauge Steel (LGS) is the leading choice for new schools. But sealing thousands of metres of steel frame and board with sticky tape is slow, difficult, and prone to error.
Passive Purple is the liquid vapour control layer that keeps pace with the build.
- Speed: Spray large classrooms, sports halls, and corridors in minutes.
- Durability: Schools are high-traffic environments. Unlike paper membranes behind plasterboard which can tear, Passive Purple is a tough, rubber-like skin bonded to the structure.
- Acoustic Performance: By creating a seamless seal, you also help reduce noise transfer between classrooms—a vital requirement for learning environments.

The Critical Detail: Steel + Cement Particle Board
In LGS school projects, you are typically connecting the steel frame to Cement Particle Board (CPB) or external sheathing. The joints between these hard boards and the steel columns are critical weak points.
To guarantee a crack-free, permanent seal, you need the Intelligent Membranes (IM) Fleece Tape.
Step 1: Bridge the Joint with IM Fleece Tape
Before you spray, you reinforce.
- The Challenge: CPB and Steel expand and contract at different rates. Rigid fillers will crack; standard tapes can peel.
- The Solution: Apply IM Fleece Tape over the joints between the boards and where the boards meet the steel frame.
- Why Fleece? This self-adhesive tape features a special fabric backing designed specifically to absorb and hold the liquid membrane.
Step 2: Encapsulate with Passive Purple
Once the IM Fleece Tape is applied:- Spray the Lot: Apply Passive Purple directly over the Fleece Tape, the Cement Particle Board, and the exposed Steel.
- The "Composite" Seal: The liquid soaks into the fleece backing of the tape, creating a reinforced "composite" joint that is incredibly strong yet flexible.
- Tek Screws Vanish: LGS frames are covered in thousands of protruding screw heads. Passive Purple covers them in one pass, encapsulating them instantly without the need for individual patches.
-
The Contractor’s Advantage
"We used the Passive Purple system on a major school block. Taping the cement particle board would have taken weeks. We sprayed it, screws and all, in days."
- Direct Adhesion: Bonds aggressively to galvanized steel and cementitious boards.
- No Primers: Save time by spraying directly onto the substrate.
- Visual QA: Dries to a vibrant Purple, allowing Site Managers to instantly visually verify that the airtight seal is complete before the cladding goes on.
