White Intumescent Fire Protection For Timber And Spray Foam — Intelligent Membranes

White Intumescent Fire Protection for Timber and Spray Foam

Where timber or spray foam is left exposed and on show, the fire-protection layer has to look the part as well as perform. FRED White is an intumescent thermal barrier that does both — a certified reaction-to-fire coating in a clean white finish.

The problem with exposed combustibles

Spray foam classifies only to Euroclass E on its own, and exposed timber is combustible — both need upgrading where they form part of the fire strategy under Approved Document B. The catch is that many fire coatings look industrial, which is a problem in plant rooms, lofts, garden rooms and feature ceilings where the surface stays visible.

The solution: FRED in white

FRED White is an intumescent thermal-barrier coating for timber and spray foam, certified Class A2-s1,d0 under BS EN 13501-1, finished clean and white so it can be left on show. In a fire it intumesces to form a protective char over the substrate.

Combine for a Class B airtight build-up

As with the standard grade, pairing FRED with Passive Purple achieves a Class B fire rating and up to 30 minutes of fire protection on 9mm OSB — fire performance, airtightness and vapour control in one system.

How it is applied

  • Spray-applied internally to the certified wet film thickness
  • Leave on show for a clean white finish, or overcoat as required
  • Low-VOC for occupied spaces

Benefits

  • Class A2-s1,d0 certified
  • Clean white, on-show finish
  • Protects timber frame and spray foam
  • Part of a Class B airtight system with Passive Purple
