White Intumescent Fire Protection for Timber and Spray Foam
Where timber or spray foam is left exposed and on show, the fire-protection layer has to look the part as well as perform. FRED White is an intumescent thermal barrier that does both — a certified reaction-to-fire coating in a clean white finish.

The problem with exposed combustibles
Spray foam classifies only to Euroclass E on its own, and exposed timber is combustible — both need upgrading where they form part of the fire strategy under Approved Document B. The catch is that many fire coatings look industrial, which is a problem in plant rooms, lofts, garden rooms and feature ceilings where the surface stays visible.
The solution: FRED in white
FRED White is an intumescent thermal-barrier coating for timber and spray foam, certified Class A2-s1,d0 under BS EN 13501-1, finished clean and white so it can be left on show. In a fire it intumesces to form a protective char over the substrate. Choose the White option on the FRED product page.
Combine for a Class B airtight build-up
As with the standard grade, applying FRED over Passive Purple gives a system classified Euroclass B-s1,d0 (on A1 substrates with a density of at least 653 kg/m³) — fire performance, airtightness and vapour control in one system. On its own, FRED has been fire tested by Warringtonfire on 11mm OSB, where we rate it at 15 minutes fire protection.
